Spring simply by Edna St Vincent Millay and the Sick Rose by William Blake Essay

The first poem is called, " Spring, " by Edna St . Vincent Millay and the second composition is called, " The Sick and tired Rose, " by Bill Blake. The two poems are very similar in the way the personas share their feelings towards life. Beauty, the seasons of life, and the that means of life are the focuses of equally poems.

What is the meaning of life?: something that has been asked since the beginning of human beings. This problem is asked at the start of " Spring". The narrator in the poem appears really stressed out because of the approach she expresses her frame of mind towards life. In the beginning of this composition the narrator is requesting what the reason for life is. So from the start this kind of poem seems to be very ominous. We appear to ask the actual meaning of life is more, when we are sad, depressed or perhaps something/someone has turned against us; Like in the composition, " The Sick Rose". In this poem the narrator says, " O Flower, thou artwork sick! The invisible earthworm, That flies at night, Inside the howling thunderstorm. " I believe the narrator is saying that life isn't very worth living and we are typical like worms in a thunderstorm. Basically he/she is saying that life is a really confusing and frustrating place sometimes. For me the further meaning is that in reality a worm is very tiny when compared to rest of the globe. When the narrator says, " That lures at night, " this merely emphasizes even more about how small , and invisible this kind of worm is usually. When it is darker outside you can hardly discover anything, so that it would obviously be impossible to see a thing invisible. I do believe that what this poem is trying to portray is, that we since human beings are extremely tiny when compared to whole world and that all of us as persons are invisible. So in theory, I believe that this poem is about how the narrator believes that one person can't make a difference in life. In a way this is just like the first composition because the author has a bad attitude towards life and think remarkably of it, " Life by itself Is nothing at all... " Equally poems possess a negative...
